What is Performance Consulting? Performance Consulting involves working with small and large businesses to help them achieve their performance objectives by designing and implementing effective reinforcement programs. These programs utilize the the best elements of "extrinsic motivation theory".

Who is the audience for these programs? It is normally that group of people who can make the most impact on the company's goals. It might be employees, sales personnel, service personnel, agents, distributors, dealers, brokers, retailers, or even, consumers.

What elements are involved in a typical program? There are normally four elements of a typical incentive program: the program design (interesting, simple, challenging yet achievable goals, etc); program communications (cuts through the everyday clutter); program measurement (provides timely and relevant feedback to participants and management); and program reinforcement (usually a broad selection of desirable awards which are appropriate to the effort expended).

What is the usual duration for these programs? The answer to this questions is determined by several factors such as: difficulty of task, amount of control over audience, earnings opportunity, seasonality/sales cycle/frequency of activity, ability to measure, competitive issues, etc. Some programs can be most effective over a 60 or 90 day period, some require 6 to 12 months, and other "loyalty type" programs continue beyond a year.

What kind of results can I expect? Of course, the answer to this question depends on many variables, but typical incremental increases average 9 - 28%.

"...and the truth will set you free." - John 8:32
